Thank you very much for sending me the leaflet, and news of your mother, I had often wondered how she was, after your father had died. What a wonderful lady, it was a privilege to have known her. John and I farmed at Longnor (our son Tim is there now with our organic dairy herd) and I'm can't remember how I first met your mother. I used to hear children read at Longnor school and then go to The Roundabouts to share a soup and other delicious goodies for lunch. We all sat and chatted over a cuppa, and I admired the amazing, skilled work of both of your parents. Full of admiration for all they had achieved. In fact I have a treasured painting of your father's. I remember taking your mother to see your father when he was at Holy Cross Nursing Home. I did some shopping whilst she visited. Then I always meant to call when she moved to Shrewsbury, but I must have phoned and she said she wasn't feeling too good that day. She was such a happy lady, hugely knowledgeable on many subjects, I loved spending time at The Roundabouts with Joan. John and I moved to Red House Farm over 12 years ago, where we continue to farm with beef cattle, with our family at Longnor. I am sorry I never met any of her family, but we send our deepest sympathy to you all. Thank you for sending details of the service also where I can send a donation. I am sure you can look back with many happy memories of 'A long life, well lived' Kind regards Chris and John Downes
