Thoughts

Thank you for this invitation which both Marion and I will join. Joan was a very popular member of our Macular Group in Shrewsbury, indeed if not a 'Founder Member' she was certainly a very early member. Unfortunately, GDPR instructions from our Head Office meant that we had to destroy most of our paper records so we cannot be sure. Both Marion and I were very fond of Joan, charming and stoic when with us, and a wonderful example of dignity in her disability. We shall long remember her. With every good wish for you all. Thank you very much for sending me the leaflet, and news of your mother, I had often wondered how she was, after your father had died. What a wonderful lady, it was a privilege to have known her. John and I farmed at Longnor (our son Tim is there now with our organic dairy herd) and I'm can't remember how I first met your mother. I used to hear children read at Longnor school and then go to The Roundabouts to share a soup and other delicious goodies for lunch. We all sat and chatted over a cuppa, and I admired the amazing, skilled work of both of your parents. Full of admiration for all they had achieved. In fact I have a treasured painting of your father's. I remember taking your mother to see your father when he was at Holy Cross Nursing Home. I did some shopping whilst she visited. Then I always meant to call when she moved to Shrewsbury, but I must have phoned and she said she wasn't feeling too good that day. She was such a happy lady, hugely knowledgeable on many subjects, I loved spending time at The Roundabouts with Joan. John and I moved to Red House Farm over 12 years ago, where we continue to farm with beef cattle, with our family at Longnor. I am sorry I never met any of her family, but we send our deepest sympathy to you all. Thank you for sending details of the service also where I can send a donation. I am sure you can look back with many happy memories of 'A long life, well lived' Kind regards Chris and John Downes

So sorry to hear that Joan has passed away. She was a lovely lady and you were lucky to have her as your mother. I always loved chatting to her. She had such a peace about her and that lovely smile. I will never forget her. Thank you for the link to the funeral and if I’m not moving house on that day I will be there with you all. Hope to see you soon in better circumstances My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Lots of love Jane Dolan
